How would you rate the quality of Guess handbags?
Okay, has anyone out there had problems with Guess purses? I bought a Bethany hobo at Macy's, and two weeks later, the PVC started to peel off around the hardware area, so I took it back. I ordered a Serengeti hobo online, and it came in all wrapped in original Mfg's packaging, and lo and behold, it had a black mark on the front (looked like melted glue), and a good sized nick on the flap that closes over the zipper. I shipped it back and they're sending me another one,( I really like the purse). Am I just having bad luck, or has anyone else had problems like this? I feel when you pay over $100.00 for a bag, it should be in near perfect condition. Please share any thoughts or experiences, if I'm just having a bad luck streak or this is the norm. I would love a leather Juicy Couture bag, but I have a hard time spending THAT much money on a purse - I have three kids and they always come first. Any feedback would be appreciated.
No matter what you pay for a bag, whether it is over $100 or not, it should be sold to the public in perfect condition...unmarred, unstained, unpeeling, whatever. I have bought 'Guess' bags many times, and have noticed shoddy manufacturing and poor construction. Guess bags are gorgeous, very vogue, and different. I do not know if it is because there are so many mass produced and the quality control is compromised or non-existent or what, but it is maddening. I definitely concur with you. The only bags that I have bought or were given that do not fall apart or were damaged in any way, were Dooney and Bourke leather products and handbags. I have one classic bag for 25 years already and it looks wonderful and still in style. I feel that today, corners are cut, and inferior products and procedures are used to compensate for mass-production and demand. Unfortunately, we the consumer suffer.
